This is a new role reporting to our Chief Product Officer. As our Senior Director of Product, Trust and Safety, you will lead our efforts to create a secure digital environment for millions of users worldwide. You’re excited about this opportunity because you will:

  • Lead Strategic Initiatives: Craft and steer the vision, strategy, and implementation of our Trust and Safety programs, aligning them with our mission and business goals.
  • Product Oversight: Partner closely with product management, engineering, and design teams to integrate trust and safety features. Advocate for user-centric design principles that enhance safety and trust.
  • Enhance User Protection: Develop and implement policies, tools, and processes that protect users from harmful content and behavior, promoting a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with engineering, data science, legal, customer support, and other teams to build and enhance trust and safety features and solutions.
  • Engage with Cross-Functional Partners: Communicate effectively with executive leadership, external partners, and our user community to ensure visibility and responsiveness to safety concerns.
  • Drive Data-Driven Decisions: Leverage data and user insights to continuously improve our trust and safety measures, staying ahead of emerging threats and trends.
  • Demonstrate Inclusive Leadership: Build and lead a diverse team, promoting a culture that encourages different perspectives and innovation.

You will be successful here by:

  • Establishing Clear Vision and Goals: Setting clear, actionable goals and metrics for trust and safety initiatives, ensuring alignment with the overall product and company strategy.
  • Delivering Impactful Solutions: Define, launch and lead cross functional strategic projects to ensure continued operational rigor and improvement globally
  • Building Strong Relationships: Cultivating strong partnerships with internal and external partners, ensuring alignment and collaboration on trust and safety efforts.
  • Embracing Continuous Improvement: Maintaining a proactive approach to identifying and addressing trust and safety challenges, using feedback, data, and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrating Thought Leadership: Representing Strava in industry forums and public discussions on trust and safety, contributing to broader conversations and advancements in the field.

. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record of success developing and managing product policy and trust & safety programs in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong communication and leadership skills, who will be responsible for driving the evolution of our product policy and trust & safety programs. They must be comfortable leading cross-functional initiatives with a variety of stakeholders, including legal, product, engineering, and operations. This role requires a combination of excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, impeccable attention to detail, and a deep understanding of consumer privacy, data security, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and thoughtful leader who is eager to make an impact in a constantly evolving industry.

  • You have a track record of success and 8+ years of proven experience in a senior trust and safety or product management role within a consumer tech company
  • You are a strategic problem solver with strong communication and leadership skills, who will be responsible for driving the evolution of our product policy and trust & safety programs
  • You are comfortable leading and influencing cross-functional initiatives with a variety of team members, including legal, product, engineering, and operations
  • You are a proven inclusive people leader, adept at building, managing, and inspiring diverse teams in a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Knowledge of customer support software, automation tools, and data analytics.
  • Experience with crisis management and developing crisis response strategies.
  • You have a deep appreciation for users and a passion for creating safe and positive experiences.
  • You excel at communicating sophisticated ideas clearly and persuasively to various collaborators, from executive leadership to external partners and users.
  • You are skilled at using data and analytics to advise decisions and drive continuous improvement in trust and safety efforts.
  • You stay ahead of industry trends and emerging threats, always looking for innovative ways to enhance user trust and safety.
