Jesse Paterson

Jesse Paterson has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. They started their career as a Lifeguard for the City of Austin in 2014. Later, they worked as a Front-End Developer at the University of California, Berkeley, where they designed and developed modern CMS websites for different departments. During this time, Jesse also extended the CMS system to include modular components.

In 2017, Jesse became the Vice President of Extended Reality at Berkeley, the largest VR/AR research and development organization at UC Berkeley. They facilitated research opportunities for undergraduates and taught a VR development course.

From 2016 to 2019, Jesse worked at the UC Berkeley College of Engineering as a Lead Researcher and UX Engineer. They led a team of undergraduate researchers in developing augmented and virtual reality interfaces for controlling drones. Their work resulted in a paper presented at SUI '19.

In 2018, Jesse was hired as a Virtual Reality Designer at STRIVR, where they improved the UI/UX of the company's VR training platform. They also introduced user research and reporting as part of the product life-cycle. Later, Jesse transitioned to the role of Senior UX Researcher at STRIVR, where they advocated for incorporating user feedback into subsequent product versions.

Currently, Jesse is a Founding Member of ATX DAO, a Local DAO in Austin. As the Chair of the Education Committee, they write educational content, organize panels, create curriculum, and identify trends for members to learn about.

Jesse Paterson completed their high school education at Liberal Arts and Science Academy from 2010 to 2014. They then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Cognitive Science with a minor in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (EECS) from the University of California, Berkeley, from 2014 to 2018.
