John K. has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. John has held various roles in sales engineering, technical solutions engineering, and IT management.

At StrongDM, John currently serves as a Principal Sales Engineer, where they help organizations enhance their production workflows by incorporating security and compliance measures. Prior to this, they were a Senior Sales Engineer at the same company, focusing on securing infrastructure access for modern stacks.

Before joining StrongDM, John was the Director of Technical Solutions Engineering at Tanium, specializing in designing and implementing cybersecurity workflows. John provided expertise in areas such as discovery, patching and deployment, compliance and vulnerability scanning, and policy-based remediation.

John also served as the Director of Sales Engineering at 5th Kind - Collaborative Media Solutions, where they worked on secure digital asset management, catering to innovative entertainment companies and consumer brands.

Prior to that, John worked at Alltana, Inc., as the Vice President of Technical Services. John played a crucial role in platform design and led sales engineering and technical services. John'scontributions were instrumental in developing a collaborative security software platform.

John's experience at IBM includes roles such as Client Technical Leader, where they provided industry solutions and expertise in media and entertainment workflows for The Walt Disney Company. John was also a Senior Sales Engineer, specializing in high-speed data transfer solutions with IBM Aspera software products.

At Aspera, an IBM company, John continued their work as a Senior Sales Engineer. Aspera's FASP technology became an industry standard for media and entertainment, and John's contributions played a part in winning two Technical Emmy Awards.

Earlier in their career, John held the position of Director of IT at ZOO Digital Group plc, overseeing the IT department in multiple countries. John also served as a System Administrator at Scope Seven and SDI Media, where they gained experience in storage, networking, security, and media services.

John's career began at KEYT-TV, where they worked as a Master Control operator, responsible for live feeds, satellite monitoring, and program control.

Throughout their career, John has demonstrated expertise in cybersecurity, sales engineering, technical solutions engineering, IT management, and media services.

John K. completed their Bachelor's degree in Broadcasting from Washington State University, where they studied from 1997 to 2001.

In addition to their degree, John has obtained several certifications throughout their career. In 2006, they received certifications in A+ from CompTIA, Apple Final Cut Pro from Moviola, and Digidesign ProTools from Video Symphony.

In 2007, John obtained the Network+ certification from CompTIA, followed by the Cisco CCNA certification from Global Knowledge in 2008.

More recently, in 2013, John obtained the Red Hat Certified Administrator certification from Red Hat. In 2019, they completed the PMP® Certification Training Course from the Project Management Institute.

Finally, John obtained the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in 2022 and the Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge v.4 from the Cloud Security Alliance in 2023.
