With forty different nationalities among the 200+ people working at Studyportals, we are an international bunch of people. Eager to learn and serious about fun. Want to know more?

Why are we searching for you?

As a DevOps Engineer, you will assume responsibility over Studyportals’ complete infrastructure and the tooling used by our product scrum teams to place their work in the hands of students and universities worldwide. Your focus is on our overall Platform maintenance and innovation by providing guidance on secure design for our scrum teams as well as owning and improving our infrastructure.

You will be part of the Platform Operations team whose main mission is to speed up and stabilize the development process by providing tooling and services to our Engineering teams to support their processes. We are looking for someone who wants to work together with others on supporting the product teams, improving and maintaining our infrastructure, platform-related tooling and our overall CI/CD process. We value initiative greatly!

What are your three main goals?

  • Help us to become more scalable as a platform, by decoupling our dependencies and driving our microservice architecture. Staying in control of quality is key!
  • Research weaknesses and threats and find cost-effective solutions to cybersecurity problems and our scaling ambitions.
  • Share your knowledge with your team members and develop yourself further as a developer by using your personal development budget to learn new technologies or methods.

How does your team look like?

The Product Engineering department consists of 35 people. You are part of our Platform team which is a team of 4. Your Product Owner (PO) sets the product priorities. You are, together with the PO, responsible for designing and implementing new functionalities. This means that you, as a developer, have influence on what to build, and how to build it. You report to our Software Development Manager, Stefan. He started as a developer at Studyportals and knows his way around the systems. His main responsibility is to make sure you can do your work in the best possible way, taking away impediments, driving technical innovation and making sure you can be the best version of yourself.

What Tech Stack do we use?

Almost all our systems have been developed in-house and follow modern quality standards. We work in a service-oriented architecture, powered by our own RESTful API and AWS. Our products are powered by VueJS, Node/NPM, TypeScript, Sass.

We work in a service-oriented architecture, powered by our own RESTful API and the AWS ecosystem. In parallel, we are transitioning to the AWS CDK and scaling up our infrastructure, via Docker and our centralized CI/CD tooling.
