Marty Grimes has a diverse work experience that spans over three decades. Marty began their career in the US Army in 1988 as a Team Leader, where they managed a team of 7 to 8 people and was responsible for organizing and managing repair and maintenance duties for 27 air defense systems. In 1993, they joined Mitsubishi Silicon America as a Facilities/Maintenance Supervisor-Technician, where they provided leadership and procedures to shift teams, hired and retained employees, and worked with project engineering to ensure the success of capital projects. Marty then transitioned to Sumco Oregon Corporation in 1999 as a Site Services Manager, where they established policies and standards, coordinated efforts to improve productivity, and managed staffing needs and priorities. In 2003, they joined SUMCO as the Director of Site Services, overseeing equipment engineering, facilities, and maintenance functions and focusing on strategic planning and development of process equipment to enhance equipment longevity.

Marty Grimes has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from Longwood University, which was obtained from 2020 to 2022. Marty also holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Business Management from George Fox University, obtained from 1997 to 1999. In addition to their formal education, Marty has obtained several certifications from LinkedIn, including "A Toolkit for Giving and Receiving Better Feedback," "Asking for Feedback as an Employee," "Finding Your Introvert/Extrovert Balance in the Workplace," "How to Give and Receive Useful Feedback Every Month," and "Managing Your Career as an Introvert." These certifications were obtained in July 2021.
