James Hoffman, PE, LEED AP, CEM has extensive work experience in the engineering field. James started their career in 1989 as a Platoon Leader & Company Executive Officer at the 317th Engineer Battalion in the U.S. Army. In 1992, they joined Summer Consultants, Inc. as a Mechanical Engineer and later became the President of the company in July 2000. James has demonstrated strong leadership skills and expertise in mechanical engineering throughout their career.

James Hoffman, PE, LEED AP, CEM has a strong educational background in the field of engineering. James obtained their Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree from Penn State University between 1983 and 1988. In 1999, they pursued further education and earned a Master of Engineering Management degree from The George Washington University with a specialization in Engineering Management. Additionally, James attended the University of Leeds in 1986, although the specific degree obtained is unknown. Prior to their higher education, James completed their high school education at Gonzaga College High School, graduating in 1983.

In addition to their academic achievements, James holds several professional certifications. James is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certified by the Association of Energy Engineers. James also obtained the LEED AP Operations + Maintenance certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Furthermore, James is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the states of Virginia, Washington D.C., Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, as well as being certified by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES).
