Jack L Powell MSW LCSW-C, LCADAS, LCSW, CCDVC has worked in the mental health field since 1993. Jack L began their career as a Social Work Supervisor for the Maryland Division of Corrections in 1993, and then worked as an Elected Official for the Wicomico County Democratic State Central Commitee in 1994. In 2006, they became the Director of Mental Health Department at Warwick Manor Behavioral Health, where they conducted psychiatric assessments, formulated treatment plans, facilitated addiction and mental health treatment groups, and performed discharge planning services. In 2007, they began working at the Dorchester County Health Department as an Intensive Outpatient Supervisor, managing an intensive outpatient program and supervising addiction counselors who provided treatment to 100 clients monthly in an outpatient treatment facility. Jack L then attended Delaware Technical and Community College-Owens, where they earned an Associate's degree in Human Services, General in 1979. Jack L then attended Salisbury University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work in 1981. Jack L then attended University of Maryland School of Social Work and Community Planning, where they obtained a Master of Community Planning in 1983. In 1991, they attended University of Maryland School of Social Work, where they obtained a Masters of Social Work in Clinical/Medical Social Work in 1992. Finally, in 2011, they attended Co-Occuring Supervisors Academy and earned a Certificate of Completion in Mental Illness and Addiction Disorders. Jack L is also certified as a Licensed Certified Social Worker Clinical (LCSW-C) by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners.
