Danny Van Clief

Danny is the CEO of Sun Tribe Development – Sun Tribe’s provider of large-scale renewable energy solutions which partners with Fortune 500 companies, landowners, governments, and leading utilities as they move towards a cleaner energy future.

Prior to his time at Sun Tribe, Danny served as the President of Coronal Energy (Panasonic), having previously worked at various points as the Company’s Chief Commercial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Executive Vice President. Under his leadership, Coronal grew into an operating company with more than $700 million in assets and a 5 gigawatt development pipeline of solar and battery storage projects in more than 20 states. At the end of his term, he guided the sale of Coronal’s Development platform to Orsted; a Denmark-based company with a market capitalization of $30 billion USD.

Danny’s career in renewable energy began at HelioSage, where he served as Executive Vice President (and later, President of Development) and helped guide the company’s formative business plans. Thanks to his efforts, his team reached national prominence and guided the development of a 300 MW portfolio of solar PV projects for customers including Dominion Energy, Duke Energy, Georgia Power, Gulf Power, Pacific Power, Idaho Power, the Tennessee Valley Authority, and more. Due to this record of success, Danny was able to lead the sale of HelioSage to Coronal Energy in 2015.

Danny holds a BA in History from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management.
