POSITION SUMMARY

Operates, sets up, changes over, troubleshoots and tends to packaging machines while supporting the Tray Pack team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Inspects machines for deficiencies and reporting them to the Lead Hand or Supervisor. · Sets up, starts, and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions of machine. · Stops machine and reports malfunction to the Lead Hand or Supervisor. · Ensures all engineering controls are in place; reports when safety devices need repair. · Adjusts guides, gauges, and clears away any damaged product packages, · Inspects packages to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications, · Replenishes packaging supplies as needed. · Maintains production information and other data. · Cleans and maintains equipment and work area according to company’s GMPs, sanitation procedures and frequency. · Transports raw materials, finished products and packaging materials throughout the plant. · Measures, dumps, and weighs materials/ ingredients for machines. · Sorting and packing product. · Checks products and packaging for quality defects in each step of the packaging process. · Unloading containers of raw materials, finished products, and packaging materials. · Weighs containers and adjusts quantity. · Assemble, tape, close, seal and label boxes. · Meet company housekeeping standards with “first in, first out” rotation of product. · Work with knives to trim product according to specifications. · Accurate daily updates of inventory lists. · Ensure proper weights and labels, as per customer specifications. · Labels and packages products according to the Company and customer’s requirements. · Move product and supplies using a pallet jack. · Maintain speed and accuracy of the line for any given SKU. · Follows HACCP procedures, completes forms and records as set out by HACCP and Trophy Foods Inc., · Complies with Company’s Health & Safety policies and procedures including wearing all required PPE, Lockout Procedures, WHMIS, etc., · Other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory while striving for excellence. The requirements listed below are a representative of the knowledge, skill, and/ or ability required.

· Education and/ or Experience – High school diploma preferred; 2 – 3 years related experience in a food manufacturing environment. Pallet Jack and forklift experience is considered an asset. · Language Skills – Basic English skills are required to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, memos, and verbal communication, etc. Ability to write simple correspondence and ability to effectively present information one-on-one or in small groups. · Mathematical Skills – Ability to understand, accurately record perform simple mathematical calculations – addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. · Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one (1) or two (2) step instructions; Ability to deal with standardized situations with occasional or no variables. · Computer Skills – basic knowledge is an asset. · Physical Demands – Standing/ walking the entire shift. Bending, reaching, and climbing stairs at times. Frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs, occasionally lifting over 40 lbs to heights at waist level and moving/ pushing/ pulling 50 – 100lbs with assistance or equipment such as a pallet jack. · Work Environment - Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts. Temperature below 4 degrees Celsius. Continuous and constant noise that is below 80dBA (loud). Hearing protection is recommended and will be provided. Some exposure to airborne particles within allowable limits.
