Rivka Eckert

Rivka Eckert has a diverse work experience in the field of education and theater. Rivka started their career as an English teacher in the Peace Corps, where they taught upper school students and led an after-school speech team. Rivka then worked as a Resident Artist at Asphalt Arts, where they used community cultural development methodologies to partner with a service center for homeless youth, creating theater and art projects tailored to the youth's assets. In addition, they created Youth Arts Councils in partnership with the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture. Rivka also worked as a Teaching Artist at Childsplay, Inc., teaching theater and drama skills to elementary and high school students in a summer camp environment. Rivka furthered their teaching experience as a Theater Arts Instructor at South Seattle Community College, where they taught devising theater to high school students. Rivka also worked as an Assistant Professor at SUNY Potsdam, where they currently hold a role, and as a TA and instructor at Arizona State University, focusing on storytelling and theater techniques. Prior to their work in the Peace Corps, Rivka was an English and acting teacher in the King Philip School District, teaching a range of English classes and leading theater productions. Their work experience showcases their expertise in education, theater, and community engagement.

Rivka Eckert earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a focus on English and Theatre Education from Emerson College, where they studied from 2002 to 2006. Following that, they pursued a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Theatre for youth at Arizona State University, completing their studies from 2013 to 2016.
