Jara Butler's work experience includes serving as the Chief Impact Officer at Supermajority since March 2022. Prior to that, they worked as the National Director of Training and Services at the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee from June 2019 to February 2021. Jara also held the position of Regional Political Outreach Director at Beto for Texas from March 2018 to November 2018. In addition, they worked as the Political and Field Director at Julie Johnson for Texas from January 2018 to March 2018, and as a District Director at the Texas House of Representatives from August 2017 to January 2018. Prior to their political roles, Jara worked as an Analyst at JPMorgan Chase & Co. from June 2012 to July 2017. They also served as a Corps Member at Teach For America from May 2008 to December 2008. Earlier in their career, Jara worked as the Executive Coordinator at Georgia Students for Barack Obama from April 2007 to May 2008, as a Finance Intern at Cathy Cox for Governor from January 2006 to May 2006, and as a Coordinating Intern at the Religious Coalition of Georgians for Choice from May 2005 to January 2006.

Jara Butler completed a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science and Government from The University of Georgia between 2006 and 2008. In 2003 to 2005, Butler attended Georgia State University Perimeter College, where they studied Political Science and Government without obtaining a degree. In 2014 and 2015, Butler pursued a certificate in Business Ethics at Harvard University.
