Job description

General:

The Receptionist is responsible for all aspects of maintaining the flow of communications for Surespan’s Head Office.  The successful candidate will be organized, able to multi-task, have exceptional people skills and be able to work at a fast pace with extreme accuracy.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Answering phones and transferring calls accurately.  When required, taking accurate, legible messages and forwarding in a timely manner

  • Managing couriers including receiving packages and distributing in a timely manner, sending packages as required, maintaining records of courier transactions and reconciling records with each and every invoice

  • Processing mail and faxes in a timely and accurate manner

  • Preparing paperwork for filing by organizing items as instructed

  • Maintaining office supplies including organizing / keeping tidy storage areas, ordering office supplies at all times ensuring that supplies are replenished before running out.

  • Responsible for maintaining tidiness of all common areas of the office

  • On a daily basis, organizing and picking up lunch for the President of the firm [a valid driver's license and own vehicle is required; kms will be reimbursed]

  • On an as required basis assisting all other departments as needed (prioritizing will be paramount) including completing tasks as requested by the various personnel in these departments.

Experience Required:

No experience necessary.  This is an ideal position for those looking to enter the work force and to train on the job.

Required Skills and Certifications:

  • Exceptional organizational skills and time management

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (working knowledge of MS Word and Excel are a must)

  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal

  • Able to work in a team environment with multiple departments

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment and successfully execute many tasks

  • Ability to manage time and deal with multiple issues, including shifting priorities and schedules

  • Punctual and reliable

  • Valid driver's license and own vehicle

Location of Employment:

The position is based out of the Surespan Group Head Office in North Vancouver, British Columbia.  Applicants must be legally permitted to work in Canada.  International candidates cannot be considered; such applications will not receive responses.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm with a 1 hour break.

Wage:  This is an entry level position and is paid at an hourly rate.  The rate of pay will be $22-$24 an hour with an excellent benefits package after completion of a three month probationary period. 

Extras: Surespan offers 1 session per week with a personal trainer in our building's gym. The office has a lounge with ping pong, darts and couches for employee enjoyment.
