Heather Savage has over 23 years of work experience, starting with their role as a Life/Health Insurance Agent - Sales/Marketing at A. F. Smith and Associates, Inc. from July 1998 to April 2005. Heather then joined Arkansas Federal Credit Union and held various positions within the human resources department. From April 2005 to May 2010, they worked as a Training & Development Coordinator, responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating training programs for all staff and volunteer officials. Heather then became a Training & Development Supervisor from April 2008 to May 2010, where they focused on delivering outstanding service, developing training programs, and assisting with the training needs of the Credit Union's management. Heather later became a Training & Development Manager from June 2010 to March 2012, continuing their responsibilities in the Training and Development department. Heather then transitioned to the role of AVP/Human Resources Manager from March 2012 to August 2014, where they focused on developing a highly effective team of employees and ensuring excellent service delivery to internal and external members. From August 2014 to March 2018, they served as VP/Human Resources, overseeing HR initiatives such as policy design, compensation, performance management, recruiting, compliance reporting, HRIS implementations, HR workflow development, training and development, and benefits administration. Most recently, Heather served as the SVP Human Resources and SVP Chief Human Resources Officer from March 2018 to March 2021 and from March 2021 to the present, respectively. In these roles, they continued to develop an effective team of employees through coaching and leadership and was responsible for various HR initiatives, including policy design, compensation, performance management, recruiting, compliance reporting, HRIS implementations, HR workflow development, training and development, and benefits administration.
Heather Savage completed their education by obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech/Language Pathology from the University of Central Arkansas, where they studied from 1996 to 1998. Prior to that, they pursued an Associates of Arts degree in Liberal Arts at Arkansas State University from 1994 to 1996. In addition to their academic qualifications, Heather has also obtained various certifications throughout their career. From LinkedIn, they obtained certifications in "Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging," "Tips for Writing Business Emails," and "Unconscious Bias" in August 2021. Heather also holds the certification of "Certified Senior Executive (CSE)" from the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES), which they obtained in September 2014. Furthermore, they achieved the "Credit Union HR Compliance Professional (CUHRCP)" certification from the Credit Union National Association in October 2016.
