Amber Murray

Project Archaeologist at SWCA

Amber Murray has a diverse work experience. Amber started their career as an Archaeology Intern at Mountain Studies Institute in 2012, where they conducted site recording, artifact drawing, and identified various materials. Following this, they worked as a Field Archaeologist at EDR Environmental Consulting in 2014, where they operated a Trimble GPS unit and conducted archaeological surveys.

In 2015, Amber joined Lone Mountain Archaeological Consulting as a Technical Writer, responsible for writing archaeological site reports and creating archaeological site reconstructions. Amber then became a Tour Coordinator at Casa San Ysidro Museum in 2016, managing over 50 volunteers, scheduling and training them, and organizing school tours and community outreach.

Amber's next role was as a Technical Sales Associate at Ideum in 2017, before joining SWCA Environmental Consultants in 2018 as a Project Archaeologist. At SWCA, their responsibilities include project management and archaeological research.

In addition to their work in archaeology, Amber has also worked as a Tasting Room Associate at Bellwether Cidery and Wine Cellars, where they served customers, operated a cash register, and participated in wine and cider production.

Amber Murray pursued their education in a chronological manner. Amber first attended The University of New Mexico from 2009 to 2012, where they obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Anthropology. Following this, from 2021 to 2023, they enrolled at the University of Leicester, focusing on Archaeology and Heritage, to pursue a Master's degree.
