Cultural Resources Team Lead at SWCA

Deanna Keegan, RPA has a diverse range of work experience in the field of cultural resources. Deanna is currently working as a Project Manager at SWCA Environmental Consultants, where they manage complex emergency response projects for cultural resources in California. Their role also includes client engagement and project development.

Prior to their current position, Deanna worked as a Senior Archaeologist at ASM Affiliates, where they served as a Project Director and Principal Investigator for contracts involving various agencies. Deanna provided cultural resource support to clients and was involved in Section 106, CEQA, and AB-52 compliance.

Deanna also worked as an Archaeologist at Environmental Science Associates, where they were responsible for tasks such as project coordination, cultural lead, and principal investigator. Deanna provided support to clients on NHPA Section 106, NEPA, CEQA, and AB-52 compliance.

Earlier in their career, Deanna gained experience as an Archaeology Site Assistant & Supervisor at Caherconnell Stone Fort & Field School, where they assisted with research excavation and supervised field school students. Deanna also worked as an Archaeological Technician at the U.S. Forest Service, conducting inventories of forest cultural resources and submitting DPR updates.

Deanna's work experience also includes roles as an Archaeology Assistant at NUI Galway, where they conducted surveys and excavations in Ireland, and as a Training Lead and Executive Assistant at Huron, where they developed and facilitated applied anthropology-focused courses.

Additionally, Deanna has worked as an Archaeologist and Cultural Anthropologist at the Blue Lake Museum, where they analyzed and accessioned artifacts, and as an Archaeologist Intern at the Bear River Band of Rohnerville Rancheria, where they assisted with artifact accessioning and tribal heritage projects.

Deanna Keegan, RPA, holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Anthropology from Humboldt State University. Deanna pursued further education and obtained a Master of Arts (MA) in Landscape Archaeology from the University of Galway. In addition to their academic qualifications, they obtained certification as a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) from the Register of Professional Archaeologists in August 2018.
