Dena Schmaedecke

Dena Schmaedecke has a strong background in human resources, with experience in various leadership roles. Dena most recently served as the Vice President of Human Resources at Swedish Medical Center, starting in June 2018. Prior to that, they held the same role at HealthONE/ North Suburban Medical Center from June 2015 to June 2018. Before their time in the healthcare industry, Dena worked as the Human Resources Director at Parallon from June 2012 to June 2015. Dena also served as an HR Business Partner at HealthONE from April 2009 to May 2012, where they supported a large healthcare staff and provided direct support to management and executive office with HR needs. Earlier in their career, Dena worked as a Human Resources Generalist at Shea Homes from August 2005 to April 2009, supporting employees and managers at offsite locations. Dena also gained experience in operations management as an Operations Manager at Borders Books from May 2004 to August 2008. Dena started their career as a Merchandise Manager at Old Navy, where they worked at multiple locations and managed staff sizes ranging from 30 to 75 people from April 1997 to November 2003.

Dena Schmaedecke obtained a Masters in Professional Studies in Human Resources Administration from the University of Denver in 2009. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with an emphasis in HR at the W. P. Carey School of Business - Arizona State University in 2002. In terms of certifications, they obtained the SPHR certification from the HR Certification Institute in May 2019 and the SHRM - Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification from SHRM in May 2015.
