Charles Chan

Charles Chan has extensive work experience in engineering and management roles, spanning over 25 years. Charles is currently working as the VP of Engineering at Swell Energy since June 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Head of Engineering at PowerHub: Simplifying Asset Management from May 2021 to July 2022.

From July 2018 to May 2021, Charles worked as the VP of Software Engineering at Opus One Solutions. Before that, they held the position of Head of Engineering at FlightNetwork.com from April 2017 to July 2018 and at Aspire Financial Technologies Inc. from March 2016 to April 2017.

During their time at Wattpad from March 2013 to October 2015, Charles served as the Head of Engineering. Charles was responsible for various initiatives, including building a high-performance engineering organization, implementing agile development processes, and leading the API platform system design improvement effort.

Prior to Wattpad, Charles held positions at Kobo Inc. as the Director of Core Systems from February 2012 to March 2013, at Fixmo as the Director of Research and Development from April 2011 to March 2012, and at Redknee as the Director of Research and Development from January 2000 to March 2011.

Their career began at Clearnet Communication Inc. as a Software Developer, where they led a team in designing and developing systems related to messaging gateway and message brokering from 1996 to 1999.

Charles Chan completed their MBA in Strategy and Finance from the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management between 2008 and 2010. Prior to that, they pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo from 1991 to 1996. In addition to their formal education, they obtained a certification in Deep Learning Specialization from Coursera in March 2019.
