Azeem Lakdawalla has over 20 years of work experience in the fields of software development and research engineering. In 1999, they began their career as a Software Developer at LogicaCMG. In 2001, they moved to MASA Group as a Research Engineer. From 2005 to 2006, they were a Research Assistant at the University of Toronto. Azeem then worked as a Quant. Developer & Trader at Desjardins Securities from 2006 to 2008. From 2008 to 2010, they worked as a Trader (Equities & Options) at Hillsdale Investment Management Inc., where they built and traded a US options & equity medium-frequency volatility strategy. From 2010 to 2017, they were an Associate Director, Global Equity at Scotiabank Global Banking and Markets, where they built a portfolio analytics server, an internal visualization system, an internal web-app, a dynamic portfolio-level strategy, a market-on-close strategy, anti-gaming and liquidity seeking strategies, a pre-trade and post-trade reporting system, and an intra-day time-series database. Azeem also conducted intra-day basket correlation analysis for portfolio execution and quantitative analysis and research on Canadian market microstructure. In 2017, they joined Swift Medical as a Staff Research Engineer - Advanced Imaging Lead.
Azeem Lakdawalla began their educational journey at the Toronto French School from 1981 to 1993. Azeem then attended McGill University from 1993 to 1999, receiving a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering. Azeem went on to the University of Toronto from 2003 to 2005, where they earned a Master of Science in Computer Vision. Additionally, they obtained a Financial Risk Manager certification from the Global Association of Risk Professionals.
