Ted Akizuki

Maintenance Engineer at Swift Solar

Ted joined Swift Solar in January of 2023 as a Maintenance Engineer and brings 30+ years of diverse experience. His journey in semiconductors started by installing large plasma chambers all over North America for Himont Plasma Science and then PVD cluster tools for Varian in the DRAM fabs of South Korea. When Varian Thin Films was bought by Novellus, Ted found himself in R&D working on Novellus' CVD TiN module. He built, tested and installed the first beta reactors and supported the LSI Logic beta site in Santa Clara. He took a job LSI Logic when the CVD Equipment Eng. position came open. When LSI Logic began shutting down their fabs, he took a job at a III/V startup where he was a key contributor in startup, qualfication and ongoing support of their fab. After many years he decided to try something new and took a job as an Equipment Engineer at Lumileds working in their Automotive Lighting division. He supported a line of Aixtron Epi reactors and the entire Toxic Gas Vault. In his spare time, Ted likes to BBQ, chase Steelhead in Norther California or Southern Oregon with the Spey rod, and witness Great White Shark attacks while kayak fishing on the ocean.
