Robert Wiest

Robert Wiest was appointed Reinsurance COO in November 2019. In this role, he is responsible for leading global reinsurance strategy & operations and is a Member of the Board of Swiss Re Reinsurance Holding Company Ltd. Prior to this, Robert held various leadership positions with Swiss Re.

Robert joined Swiss Re in 1995 as an engineering underwriter. After servicing various European markets, he was appointed Market Executive for Western & Southern Europe in 2005, and took on additional responsibility for the Middle East, Turkey and Pakistan from 2006.

Robert moved to Beijing as CEO of Swiss Re China in 2008 and established a strong business foundation growing the business significantly. He actively contributed to market developments in China by connecting communities in the business, political and academic sphere.

After Robert's successful China presence, he was appointed as Head Strategy and Operations Asia-Pacific from July 2013 until February 2018. In this time, major changes in the business model of Swiss Re in Asia took place.

Prior to moving into his current role, Robert was responsible for steering Swiss Re's Global Business Solutions across the group.
