Howard Yuan

Howard Yuan serves as the Head of Patents and Open Source/Standards at Yahoo, overseeing the strategic management of the patent portfolio while advising product and engineering teams on various intellectual property matters. Prior to this role, Howard held significant positions at Verizon Media, Paul Hastings, and McDermott Will & Emery LLP specializing in IP litigation and tech transactions. Howard also contributes to Swords to Plowshares as a Pro Bono Advisory Board Member. Howard's early career includes experience as a Litigation Attorney and Patent Attorney, along with a foundational role as a Server Systems Hardware Engineer at Sun Microsystems. Educational qualifications include a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University.
