David studied Physics at Birmingham University during the 1950’s and after a time at Queen’s University, Belfast as an Assistant Lecturer, he then moved to Southampton University in 1961 in response to a challenge related to the emerging Space Science programme. In the early eighties David worked at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and contributed to the team supporting the UK Space Programme. He also worked as a Senior Lecturer/Head of Department at Southampton University during the eighties and nineties developing new gamma-ray detectors and imaging systems for astronomy, industrial and medical applications. Between 1998 and 2004 three micro-companies were created through which to operate until Symetrica was formed following their merger. David then became Symetrica’s first Chief Technical Officer in 2004 and continues to work within the business today.
