David Ng

Principal Electronics Engineer at Synchron

David Ng has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Currently, they serve as the Principal Electronics Engineer at Synchron since November 2021. Prior to this, they founded and served as the CEO of Cnaptic Pty Ltd, a technology company, starting from September 2016.

David also has academic experience as an Associate Professor at Shantou University from June 2018 to January 2021. Additionally, they founded and led Cnaptic as the CEO from December 2010 to September 2016, where they developed STEM programs and established an additive manufacturing facility for education and research activities.

David's career also includes a JSPS postdoctoral fellowship at Nara Institute of Science and Technology from April 2006 to April 2008. During this time, they collaborated with neurobiologists to develop an imaging device and supervised multiple MSc candidates.

Earlier in their career, David worked as a Research Officer at the Institute of Materials and Research Engineering from January 1999 to January 2001. David also gained experience as a Research and Development Engineer at Spire Technologies Pte. Ltd. in 1998.

David's early career includes a role as an Equipment Engineer at Chartered Semiconductor Mfg from June 1997 to July 1998, where they supervised equipment start-up and maintenance.

Overall, David Ng has a strong background as an engineer and researcher, with expertise in electronics, biomedical technology, and additive manufacturing.

David Ng completed their Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical and Production Engineering from the National University of Singapore from 1993 to 1997. David then pursued a Master's degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering from the same university from 1998 to 2000. Later, David obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in CMOS Photonics Device from the Nara Institute of Science and Technology, where they studied from 2002 to 2006.

In addition to their formal education, David Ng also obtained two certifications. David completed a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40110 from RMIT University in June 2017 and earned a Certificate IV in New Small Business from the Sarina Russo Institute in March 2017.
