J. William Finley

Dr. J. William ‘Bill’ Finley joined Synergy Health Partners in 2019 and is the National Director of Acute Care and General Surgery Clinical Services. In this role he oversees the Trauma, Acute Care and General Surgery programs across the United States. Dr. Finley brings his leadership, administrative and clinical skills to focus on the growth and management of the acute care and general surgery aspects of the company’s business plan and strategy.

Previously, Dr. Finley and his surgical colleagues initiated the General Surgery Team (GST), in a partnership between The Everett Clinic and Providence Regional Medical Center-Everett in Washington. The GST was an earlier iteration of hospital-based ‘surgicalist’ type inpatient services, providing 24/7 in-hospital surgical coverage for patients with emergent, urgent, and traumatic surgical needs. After a successful launch, the program was renamed Trauma & Acute Care Surgery (TACS) and he served as the Medical Director for TACS from its inception until 2016.

In parallel, Dr. Finley served as a Surgical Provider Informaticist with Providence St. Joseph Health System, optimizing the use of the Epic electronic health record (EHR) in the care of surgical patients. In addition to his work as a surgeon, he also held several clinical leadership roles including Trauma Director, Surgery Clinical Campion, and Section Chief of General Surgery for the Providence healthcare system.

Dr. Finley earned his medical degree from the University of Washington and completed General Surgery residency at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. He also completed a Surgical Oncology & Endoscopy Fellowship at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York, and a Trauma and Surgical Care Fellowship at Oregon Health & Sciences University. He received a Master in Business Administration degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
