Claudio Squarcella has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Claudio has held various roles in different companies, showcasing their skills and expertise in the field of software engineering and research. Claudio started their career as a Trainee at RIPE NCC in 2009, where they developed Historical BGPlay, a tool for visualizing Internet routing policy dynamics. Claudio then worked as a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Applied Internet Data Analysis (CAIDA) in 2010, focusing on the visualization of geolocated Internet data.

In 2011, Claudio became a Visiting PhD Student at RIPE NCC, collaborating with Roma Tre University to build a real-time monitoring tool for the K-root DNS server. Claudio continued their research as a Postdoctoral Researcher at NaMeX in 2014.

Claudio then transitioned into full-stack software engineering, working as a Full-stack Software Engineer at ThousandEyes from 2014 to 2016. Claudio further honed their skills as a Frontend Software Engineer at Sysdig in 2016.

Claudio's career progressed at Sysdig, where they took on leadership positions. Claudio served as an Engineering Manager from 2017 to 2020, Senior Engineering Manager from 2020 to 2023, and currently holds the position of Director of Engineering since 2023.

Throughout their career, Claudio has consistently demonstrated their expertise with a focus on software engineering, research, and visualization.

Claudio Squarcella earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Università degli studi Roma TRE in 2007. Claudio then went on to complete a Master's degree in Computer Engineering from the same university in 2009. In 2011, they began their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) studies in Computer Engineering at Università degli studi Roma TRE, which they completed in 2014. Additionally, in 2012, they pursued a brief program on Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies at InnovAction Lab.
