Jamie Butler's work experience begins in 2006 when they served as the Chief Technology Officer at Komoku, Inc. During this role, they focused on business development until the company was acquired by Microsoft in March 2008.

After Komoku, Inc., Jamie joined Mandiant in 2006 and held various positions within the company. Jamie worked as a Principal Software Engineer, Manager of Agent Technology, Director of Research and Development, Director (leading the Endpoint Security Team), and Chief Researcher. During their time at Mandiant, Jamie led the Research and Development team, formed an R&D team, and was responsible for product direction and interface with different business units.

In 2014, Jamie joined FireEye, Inc. as the Chief Architect and Chief Researcher in Global Services and Cloud Solutions. Jamie worked closely with the Founder of the company, Ashar Aziz, on forward-looking projects and the transition and integration of an automated malware processing platform.

In 2015, Jamie became the Chief Technology Officer at Endgame, where they grew and led the Research and Development team in areas of data science, vulnerability research, and rapid prototyping. Endgame was later acquired by Elastic, where Jamie held the roles of Tech Lead in Elastic Security and Distinguished Engineer.

Jamie was also an Official Member of the Forbes Technology Council from 2016 to 2019 and served as an Advisor at BINARLY, Inc. and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in 2021 and 2019 respectively.

Currently, Jamie Butler is the Head of Runtime Protection and Response Strategy at Sysdig, starting in 2022.

Jamie Butler has a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. They also hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Computer Information Systems, both earned from James Madison University.
