Scientist/Senior Scientist – Cell Biology & Preclinical Development

T-Cypher Bio is an early-stage, innovative biotechnology company aiming to unlock an expansive target space to build a pipeline of novel, T-cell receptor (TCR)-based therapeutics. We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist or Senior Scientist with a strong cancer biology, molecular biology or immunology background to develop our T cell therapeutics platform.

What you will do

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced cell biologist to join our research team. The primary focus of this role is to design, execute, and analyze experiments to demonstrate TCR recognition of target cell lines and patient samples. Techniques will include, characterization of TCRs, editing of targets in cell lines, cell cytotoxicity assays, cell staining techniques, and FACS. You will utilize these advanced molecular and cellular biology tools to screen and characterize TCRs for preclinical development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute experiments to assess TCR efficacy & specificity
  • Generate cell lines to express targets of interest for use in TCR characterization assays
  • Perform cytokine release and killing assays with normal cells and cancer cell lines
  • Perform FACS-based assays to study cell populations, cellular signalling, and functional responses related to TCR-targeting
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in cancer biology methodologies to incorporate innovative approaches into TCR screening strategies
  • Analysing & presenting results in a concise and accurate manner to the wider team
  • Influence group and project meetings, offering insights and expertise to advance research projects.

To be successful you will need

You will ideally hold a PhD in Immunology/cell biology/molecular biology (or similar) and have 2+ years relevant experience in cell biology

  • Expertise working with cell line culture, primary PBMCs and primary cell lines
  • Expertise in cell staining, FACS and sorting
  • Expertise using cell cytokine release assays or killing assays
  • Experience with cell transfection or transduction
  • Proficiency in molecular and cellular biology techniques, including molecular cloning, vector design, PCR and gene expression analysis
  • Experience with high-throughput screening techniques
  • Knowledge of T cell biology for selection of lead candidate TCRs
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced, dynamic research environment
  • Demonstrated ability to screen and prioritize targets in a high throughput manner
  • Strong drive to deliver on company milestones and goals
  • Demonstrated ability of platform/protocol enhancements & improvements.
