Ryan Blue has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Ryan is the co-founder and CEO of Tabular since July 2021. Prior to that, they held multiple roles at The Apache Software Foundation, including Vice President for Apache Iceberg and Apache Avro. Ryan was also a Member of the organization. Ryan worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Netflix from February 2016 to June 2021. Before that, they were a Software Engineer at Cloudera from August 2013 to February 2016. Ryan's earliest work experience was at the National Security Agency, where they served as a Software Engineer and Team Lead. At NSA, they led a team that developed visualization and self-service analysis tools for Hadoop, managed daily cluster operations, and worked on a Java-based framework for writing MapReduce pipelines and using machine learning algorithms.

Ryan Blue attended the University of Idaho from 2002 to 2005, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in B.S. Mathematics and B.S. Computer Science. Ryan then pursued further education at the University of Maryland from 2007 to 2009 and earned a Master's Degree in Computer Science. In addition to their formal education, Ryan also completed the Math Development Program Graduate (IDEP) certification at the National Security Agency in 2008.
