Joel F. Cooper

Joel F. Cooper, PhD, DABT, ERT, currently serves as Scientific Director, Global DSRE at Takeda since September 2024, providing expert advice on drug project teams and leading nonclinical safety strategies. Cooper has held various leadership roles, including Regulatory Toxicology Consultant at Advaita Toxicology Group and Director of Toxicology at Neumora and Verve Therapeutics, where responsibilities included advancing toxicology strategies for gene therapy programs. Previous experience encompasses significant positions at Jaguar Gene Therapy, Neurocrine Biosciences, Astellas Pharma, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, and Wyeth Research, focusing on toxicology assessments and regulatory submissions. Cooper earned a Ph.D. in Toxicology from Rutgers University and holds multiple certifications, showcasing extensive expertise in the field.
