SCOPE OF ROLE:

Talent Beyond Boundaries (TBB) is seeking a Communications Intern who will be at the forefront of our efforts to tell the stories that matter. In this role, you'll dive into a variety of communications tasks, from content creation to social media management, video production, and research. Your work will directly support our mission to amplify the voices and successes of displaced individuals, showcasing the significant impact of TBB’s initiatives across our platforms. By joining our team, you’ll not only enhance our capacity to communicate effectively but also bring fresh perspectives that could redefine how we connect with our audiences. This internship is an opportunity to grow your skills in a real-world setting, contributing to a global cause while preparing for a successful career in communications and non-profit work.

This role will be remotely based from Canada.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative Support: Efficiently manage digital assets, maintain up-to-date filing systems, update essential content on the website, and assist the communications team in day-to-day tasks.

Content Creation: Craft engaging, compelling blogs for our website, posts for various social media platforms, and newsletters. 

Social Media & Graphic Design: Design visually appealing social media graphics and text that align with our brand and message using success stories, statistics, and other key information.

Media Relations: Support the communications team in engaging with the media in North America. 

Video Production: Create stories and reels for use across social media channels, capturing the essence of TBB’s work and its impact.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, & ATTITUDES

Essential

  • Strong writing and content creation skills, with the ability to produce clear, persuasive, and original content.

  • Demonstrate graphic design skills, including familiarity with Canva or other creative software tools.

  • A strong understanding of social media platforms and strategies, capable of engaging with diverse audiences effectively.

  • Solid digital literacy and willingness to use/learn a range of digital tools (Slack, Google Suite, Salesforce, Squarespace, Canva, Campaign Monitor, etc).

  • Experience as a content planner and creator; the ability to both see the big picture and execute on the small details.

  • A commitment to work collaboratively to deliver the best outcome.

Desirable

  • Lived experience of forced migration and/or displacement.

  • An interest in politics and policy-making related to immigration, labour mobility, and displacement.

  • Familiarity with other languages (e.g. French, Spanish, and Arabic).

  • Photography/videography and/or video editing skills.

TERMS

  • Able to commit to the minimum requirements of your university internship.

  • Must be eligible to receive internship credits from an accredited university.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Remote working arrangement.

  • Start date is flexible and dependent on the candidates’ availability.
