Robert Tjin Tham Sjin has extensive work experience in the field of biology and therapeutics. Robert is currently the Senior Director of Discovery Biology at Tango Therapeutics, where they are responsible for building up the Discovery Biology group and leading multiple Associate Scientist positions. Prior to this, they worked at Celgene as an Associate Director, Principal Scientist, Senior Scientist, and Scientist. Robert played a key role in the discovery and development of inhibitors for oncology, autoimmune, inflammatory, and immuno-oncology indications. At Celgene, they led the biology group in immune profiling and mechanism-of-action studies and served as a project leader on multiple oncology and autoimmune programs. Before their time at Celgene, they worked as a Senior Scientist at Pervasis Therapeutics Inc. and held positions as an Instructor and Post-doc at Children's Hospital Boston. During their time at Children's Hospital Boston, they identified the anti-tumor activity domain of endostatin and developed new therapeutic delivery strategies. Robert also worked as a Postdoc at Fels Institute for Cancer Research, where they worked under the mentorship of Liebermann DA, Ph.D. and Barbara Hoffman, Ph.D.
Robert Tjin Tham Sjin holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics from the University of Pennsylvania. Robert also earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Prior to these achievements, they obtained an Associate of Arts (AA) degree from Tallahassee Community College.
