Justin Kim

Chief Patent Counsel at Tau-PNU Medical

At Tau, Justin is responsible for developing and implementing an IP strategy to protect Tau’s core technology, as well as driving value from the company’s IP assets. Prior to joining Tau, he served as a partner of Maxon IP, an intellectual property firm specializing in medical device patent prosecution and counseling. Prior to the private practice, he worked for the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) where he examined various patent applications. Prior to his legal career, he worked as a wireless application engineer at Texas Instrument Inc. in Dallas, Texas.

He is a graduate of Master's in electrical engineering from the Texas A&M University at College Station, Texas, and he obtained his Juris Doctor from the Valparaiso University Law School at Valparaiso, Indiana. He is a senior advisor of the Korean American Intellectual Property Bar Association (KAIPBA) and served as the President of the KAIPBA (2017-2018).
