Nathalie Essex serves as Vice President of State Strategy at Teach For America, responsible for leading government affairs strategies across 23 states, securing legislative funding, and fostering organizational growth through strategic engagement with political entities. Essex has established a state policy training program across over 20 regions to enhance local leadership's advocacy capabilities. Previously, as Assistant General Counsel and Legislative Coordinator for the State of Tennessee, Essex developed relationships with elected officials and advocacy groups to influence policy outcomes. Earlier experience includes working as an Associate/Government Relations Specialist at Farris Bobango, advocating for a Fortune 500 company and clients by analyzing the impact of legislative issues. Nathalie Essex holds a Juris Doctor and Certificate of Health Law from Saint Louis University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Spelman College.
