Rafael Anthony Roa

Rafael Anthony Roa has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Rafael Anthony most recently worked as the Head of People at Teamstand, where they led efforts to revamp organizational and recruitment strategies, unify office cultures, and develop staff development processes. At Coterie Insurance, they served as the VP of People and played a crucial role in leading talent and HR efforts. Prior to that, they worked at Blackboard Insurance as a Tech-Org (and Claims) HRBP, advising senior executives on team structure, recruitment strategies, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Rafael has also held positions at ingenium.agency as an AVP Tech Recruiter, where they focused on placing candidates in data/AI and Blockchain roles, and at Palm Mason as a Consultant in Finance Technology Recruitment. Rafael Anthony started their career at ZeroChaos as a Google Ad Rater and also served as an Adjunct Professor at New York University, teaching creative writing to undergraduate students.

Before transitioning to the corporate world, Rafael worked as a Bilingual 2nd Grade Teacher at Fort Worth ISD and as a Substitute Teacher at Dallas ISD. Rafael Anthony also gained experience in the nonprofit sector as a Growth Capital Manager at the 7 Bar Foundation, where they prepared grant proposals, developed the foundation's philanthropic brand, and represented the organization at conferences nationwide.

Rafael Anthony Roa completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in International Affairs at Trinity University from 2005 to 2009. Rafael Anthony then pursued a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Creative Writing – Fiction at New York University from 2012 to 2014. Additionally, in 2008, Rafael briefly attended Universiteit Stellenbosch to study Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, although it is unclear if they obtained a degree from this institution.
