About the Role

We are seeking an organized and highly motivated R&D Lab Technician to support cutting-edge research and development activities at the intersection of medicine and artificial intelligence. As part of the Techcyte team, you will play a key role in assisting with the development and testing of innovative technologies designed to improve patient care and clinical outcomes. Because of the nature of R&D work, this will be an on-site position at the lab in Orem, Utah. You’ll be expected to be in the lab each day during regular business hours.

Responsibilities

  • Lab Support & Experimentation:
    Assist in the design, execution, and optimization of laboratory experiments involving medical devices, diagnostic tools, and AI algorithms. Support the creation and testing of prototypes and other technical innovations.

  • Data Collection:
    Collect experimental data, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and proper documentation. Assist in the development of scan profiles and scanning collections for AI model training.

  • Equipment Maintenance:
    Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of lab equipment and instruments. Coordinate with vendors for calibration and troubleshooting when necessary.

  • Documentation & Reporting:
    Maintain comprehensive records of experiments, protocols, and results. Prepare reports, presentations, and technical documentation to communicate findings to team members and stakeholders.

  • Collaboration:
    Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and clinicians, to support R&D activities and ensure alignment with overall project goals.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Engineering, Life Sciences, Chemistry, or related field.

  • Experience (0-3 years) working in a laboratory or R&D environment, preferably in a medical, biotech, or AI-related field.

  • Strong understanding of laboratory techniques, including sample preparation, testing, and equipment calibration.

  • Solid understanding of scientific research methodologies and data analysis principles.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaborating with team members.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Attention to detail and precision in all aspects of work.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

  • Bonus: Experience with software development or maintenance, robotics, optics, and/or medical devices.

Salary Range: $55,000 - $75,000 DOE
