Ximena Barros-Álvarez

Scientist II at Tectonic Therapeutic

Ximena Barros-Álvarez has a diverse and impressive work experience. Ximena is currently working as a Scientist II at Tectonic Therapeutic, Inc. since 2021. Before that, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stanford University from 2018 to 2021, where they conducted single particle cryo-EM of membrane proteins and biochemistry and GPCR signaling. From 2013 to 2018, they were a PhD student in Biochemistry at the University of Washington, where they worked on protein crystallography in TROPRS project, targeting trypanosomatid aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases for drug development against neglected tropical diseases. Finally, from 2008 to 2013, they worked as a Faculty in Biochemistry and Enzymology at Universidad de los Andes (VE), where they conducted research in biochemistry and molecular biology of kinetoplastids and taught biochemistry and enzymology undergrad courses, and biochemistry at M. Sc.

Ximena Barros-Álvarez has a diverse educational background. Ximena obtained their Licentiate degree in Biology from Universidad de los Andes (VE) in 2006, followed by a Master of Science - MS in Cellular Biology from the same university in 2011. From 2013 to 2018, they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry from the University of Washington. Currently, they are a Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University, studying CryoEM of GPCRs.
