What You’ll Do
We're seeking a forward-thinking Director of Product Design who is passionate about solving complex problems in a highly customer-centric way. You are an empathetic leader and a proven player-coach, skilled in both hands-on design and leadership. You are someone who is inclined to roll up your sleeves and engage in hands-on design work to inspire the team and set the standard. You will establish a world-class design foundation and scale a high-performing design team.
- Lead a design team to manage the user experience design of multiple mid-to-large sized program
- Inspire the team to develop high-quality product designs and user experience while facilitating a culture of iteration, customer feedback and design critique.
- Influence the product roadmap and champion user-centered design culture
- Provide continuous coaching and feedback to the team, with an emphasis on developing senior individual contributors and enhancing their leadership skills.
- Create and drive adoption of design guidelines and systems, as well as manage internal processes and tools.
- Partner with leaders across disciplines (marketing, product, engineering, etc) to define the strategic direction and design resourcing needs.
- Model the behaviors that exemplifies Tekmetric’s leadership principles and elevate the design bar of the organization.
What You’ll Bring
- A minimum of 10+ years of experience in product design and 5 years in a leadership role, with a track record of developing high performing design teams.
- You have high standards for design, care deeply about building a quality product, and you’ll go the extra mile to make sure you’re not just moving business metrics but also improving the experience overall
- Proven ability to set design vision which aligns with business goals and available resources
- You have experience anticipating bandwidth needs and planning work - and advocating for resources as needed with leadership
- Experience establishing processes to ensure that good design practices are being followed in every development project.
- You are not only an excellent communicator, self-starter, and collaborative enthusiast, but also a great listener who strives to understand the "why" of decision making
- Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in UI/UX design, user-centered design solutions, creative strategy, mature design systems, and user research methodologies.
- You are Proven capability in leading design projects from inception to completion.
- Proficiency in design and research tools such as Figma, JIRA, User Testing, Storybook, Material Design language among others.
- Experience working with Agile/Scrum development teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup/scale-up environment.
