Eugene Shvarts

Eugene Shvarts has a strong background in data science and mathematics. Eugene has worked as the Head of Data Science at Teleport since February 2023. Prior to this, they pursued an Applied Mathematics PhD at the University of California, Davis from October 2020 to March 2023. Between 2016 and 2019, they co-founded and served as the Chief Scientist at October, where they directed research and development of machine learning and recommendation systems. Before that, they worked as a Research Scientist at Gatsby Labs from March 2021 to December 2021. Eugene Shvarts also has experience in engineering and data science from their time at Source Wellness from April 2020 to September 2020. Eugene co-founded and served as the CTO of Misu from May 2019 to February 2020, where they led technical and product development. Additionally, they have held various research positions during their academic studies, including as an Applied Mathematics Graduate Student and VIGRE Summer Researcher at the University of California, Davis. Eugene also gained experience as a Mathematical Imaging and Data Analysis Intern at Helmholtz Zentrum München and as a Scientific Visualization Research Intern at California State University-Los Angeles.

Eugene Shvarts completed their Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics from California State University, Los Angeles, from 2006 to 2011. Eugene then pursued a Master of Science in Mathematics at the same university from 2011 to 2012. Subsequently, Eugene Shvarts enrolled in the University of California, Davis from 2012 to 2016 as a PhD candidate in Applied Mathematics.
