Research Assistant at Telethon Kids Institute

Mitchell Hedges has a diverse work experience that spans different industries. In 2012, they worked as a Market Research Interviewer at Researchpanel. From 2016 to 2021, Mitchell held the position of Senior Environmental Scientist at Syrinx, where they focused on the purification of contaminated water sources using green, engineered water treatment systems. Mitchell was involved in long-running, multidisciplinary projects and was responsible for investigating waters and soils, as well as designing and optimizing water treatment systems. In 2022, Mitchell became the Owner of Vita Science, and they also started working as a Research Assistant at Telethon Kids Institute. In their role at Telethon Kids Institute, they are involved in rare and genetic disease research using human stem cells and CRISPR gene editing to assist in the diagnosis of rare and genetic diseases in children.

Mitchell Hedges attended The University of Western Australia from 2008 to 2011, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus on Microbiology and Genetics. Following this, they pursued further education at the same university from 2014 to 2015 and obtained a Master of Infectious Diseases degree with a specialization in Molecular Biology.
