João Oliveira Simões

João Oliveira Simões has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. In 2012, they co-founded XS, a company focused on undisclosed projects. João then worked as a Senior UI Design Consultant at bViva from January 2013 to September 2014. João served as the Lead UI Designer at Handy HQ from November 2012 to January 2015, where they witnessed the company's significant growth and successful acquisitions. From October 2013 to May 2016, they held the position of Design Lead - Founding Team at Sparks Labs, which was later acquired by Dropbox. In March 2018, João was a Speaker at EDIT. - Disruptive Digital Education, where they shared their Silicon Valley experiences and the importance of collaboration between Design and Engineering. João also showcased a design system and shared valuable Sketch Plugins. In June 2018, they served as an Advisor at Privum, and as a Co-founder of Chic Every Weather in November 2018, where they created a new fashion inspiration search experience with Siri. The app received exceptional recognition from Apple, being featured as the "New Apps We Love" in 14 countries. Starting from July 2016, João worked at Brilliant Smart Home, initially as a UX/UI Designer, contributing to the development of their Smart Home Control product. Eventually, they transitioned to the role of Staff Product Designer from April 2021 to June 2022. Currently, João is working as the VP of Design at Tempest, a position they started in July 2022. Throughout their career, João has consistently demonstrated a combination of design expertise, entrepreneurial spirit, and a commitment to excellence.

João Oliveira Simões completed their first degree, a Licenciatura in Visual Design, from IADE between 1999 and 2003. Following this, in 2008 and 2009, they pursued a Post Graduation in Digital Advertising from Lisbon aD School. Prior to their university education, from 1996 to 1999, João Oliveira Simões attended António Arroio, where they earned a Técnico degree in Equipment Design.
