Terminal builds software that digitizes, indexes, and automates the yard, leveraging best-in-class machine learning. Our platform provides warehouse operators with the intelligence needed to optimize their usage of trucks, trailers, chassis, containers and personnel. These are the fundamental operating assets of commerce - and represent the last great frontier of untapped data. In the process, Terminal will address many industry-wide pain points, including compliance, manual processes, equipment location, phantom costs, and labor inefficiencies. Ultimately, Terminal will become the central nervous system for the yard, seamlessly connecting all data sources to support an extensive range of essential functions. 

Overview

Our world class vision engineering team has built an engine that can process the movement of trucks and containers in real-time. We are now hiring a team of engineers to build out how we run and operate the engine at scale. As a member of the Vision Engine Runtime team, you will drive the strategy we use for routing events to and from the the engine, how we auto-scale infrastructure up and down to support real time computer vision workloads, and ensure that this critical component of the system is always available.

We are seeking an experienced Vice President of Finance with a minimum of 10 years of experience in financial leadership roles, including expertise in FP&A, financial reporting, and controller functions, preferably within SaaS or Hardware as a Service (HaaS) environments. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of accounting principles, financial modeling, and strategic planning, with a proven track record of leading finance teams to drive growth and operational excellence. As VP of Finance, you will be responsible for developing and executing financial strategies, overseeing day-to-day financial operations, managing audits and tax filings, and partnering with leadership to ensure financial alignment with company goals. A CPA is required, and a CFA certification is a plus. You will play a critical role in ensuring the company’s financial health and contributing to strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute financial strategies that align with the company’s goals, driving growth and operational excellence.
  • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including financial reporting, ledger management, payroll, and adherence to accounting policies.
  • Prepare accurate monthly financial reports and statements, providing insights that reflect the company’s financial health and support strategic decision-making.
  • Lead financial audits, implement system improvements, and ensure compliance with financial objectives and regulations.
  • Oversee tax filings and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
  • Optimize procurement processes and the payroll function to enhance cost-efficiency and ensure policy compliance.
  • Partner in headcount planning, advising on financial impacts on the business, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Oversee cash and treasury management to support company liquidity and growth initiatives.
  • Contribute to operational planning to support strategic growth initiatives.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be based in Austin, TX or willing to relocate.
  • 10+ years of experience as a controller, bookkeeper, and in FP&A, preferably in a SaaS or Hardware as a Service (HaaS) company.
  • Strong familiarity with SaaS business models and metrics.
  • Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA is required and CFA certification is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and the month-end/year-end process.
  • Proficient in accounting software and financial modeling, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional leadership capabilities with a proven track record of building, managing and developing finance teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Strategic mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making and problem-solving.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in fundraising, including capital raising and investor relations.
