Marian Chau has a diverse work experience in various roles related to seed conservation and reforestation. Marian is currently the Head of Seed Banking at Terraformation Inc. since April 2020. Prior to this, they had their own small business as a Small Business Owner at Kalehua Seed Conservation Consulting LLC starting from September 2019. Marian also served as the Seed Conservation Laboratory Manager at Lyon Arboretum, University of Hawaii at Manoa from April 2014 to September 2019. Before that, they worked as a Native Reforestation Project Work Scholar at Hui Ho'olana from October 2013 to March 2014. Marian gained research experience as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Hawaii at Manoa from August 2012 to August 2013. Marian started their career in the field of seed conservation as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Hawaii at Manoa from January 2007 to December 2011.

Marian Chau completed their education with a Bachelor of Arts in English, Creative Writing from the University of Houston in the years 1997 to 2001. Marian then pursued further studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where they obtained a Master of Science in Botany/Plant Biology spanning from 2007 to 2010. Marian continued their academic journey at the same institution, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in Botany/Plant Biology from 2010 to 2012.
