Shobha Maharaj

Shobha Maharaj has a diverse work experience in the field of science and research. Shobha is currently working as the Science Director at Terraformation, starting in March 2022. Before that, they worked as an Independent Researcher from January 2021 onwards. From September 2019 to January 2021, they worked as a Consultant at Factor - Ideas for change. Prior to that, they served as a Climate Change and Biodiversity Consultant at The University of the West Indies from March 2013 to August 2016. Shobha also worked as an Acting Curator at the National Herbarium of Trinidad and Tobago from August 2012 to July 2013. Shobha'searlier work experience includes serving as a Project Manager for the National Inventory of Vascular Plants across Trinidad and Tobago from October 2005 to September 2008.

Shobha Maharaj obtained their DPhil. degree in The Impact of Climate Change on the Small Island Developing States of the Caribbean from the University of Oxford, where they studied from 2008 until 2011. Prior to that, their education history includes pursuing an MPhil degree in Environmental Biology at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus. Furthermore, Shobha Maharaj also engaged in studies related to Resource Security and Governance Issues: Challenges and Opportunities at The Energy Resource Institute in Delhi, India.
