Jacob Bower-Bir

Founding Designer at Terran Robotics

Jacob Bower-Bir has had an extensive career in the fields of political science, public policy, and design. In 2020, they became the Founding Designer for Terran Robotics and an Advisor for the same company. In 2021, they became the Founder and Member-Owner of Design Anarchy Cooperative, as well as an Adjunct Faculty member at Indiana University Bloomington. In 2018, they were the Quantitative Lead and Research Design Specialist, Quantitative Lead, and Technical Advisor for Checchi and Company Consulting, Inc. for USAID/Afghanistan. Additionally, they have held the roles of Assistant Professor at American University in Cairo (2016), Writer for WW Norton (2008), Lecturer at Boston University (2016), and Lecturer at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Political Science Department (2015).

Jacob Bower-Bir completed a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science (honors), Economics, Theirtory, and Near Eastern Languages and Cultures (minor) from Indiana University Bloomington in 2007. Jacob then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Political Science and Public Policy at Indiana University Bloomington, which they completed in 2014. In 2018, they returned to Indiana University Bloomington to pursue a Master in Architecture (MArch) in Architecture, which is expected to be completed in 2021. Additionally, Jacob has obtained certifications from LinkedIn and Coursera in areas such as Architectural Site & Envelope in Rhino, Architectural Documentation in Rhino, Introducing Rhino 6, Rhino 6 Essential Training, Reproducible Research, Exploratory Data Analysis, Getting and Cleaning Data, R Programming, and The Data Scientist’s Toolbox.
