Philip Tompkins

Philip Tompkins is an accomplished engineering manager with extensive experience in the electric vehicle and aerospace industries. Currently serving as the Engineering Manager for Service Tooling and Equipment at Tesla since February 2023, Philip has previously held significant roles including Sr. Manager of Service Engineering Research and Design at Rivian, where leadership was demonstrated in developing advanced EV service vehicles. Prior experience includes positions as a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer at Kitty Hawk, where expertise in advanced manufacturing systems for composite aerospace components was applied, and as a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer at Tesla Motors, where a mobile service program was implemented to enhance customer convenience. Earlier in the career, Philip worked as a Tooling Engineer at ICON Aircraft, focusing on tooling solutions for aircraft production. Philip holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
