Graduated in Electrical Engineering with a thesis on the use of neural networks for the transmission of images, Andrea Podda founded a start-up for the development of statistical research during his university studies, in the mid-’80s. At the beginning of the 90’s he worked in the research centre of IBM Semea between Rome and Cagliari. In 1993 he joined Telecom Italia, where he held various positions and with increasing roles in the technical field between Cagliari, Rome and Pescara. He also gained experience in Brazil, at the subsidiary TeleCentroSul during the start-up phase. In 2000 he joined Tiscali where he held important positions as a manager in the technical field of Italian operations. First he was in charge of the transmission and switching network, then he was in charge of Operations, then Chief Technology Officer and Head of Customer Operations, up to his current responsibility as Director of Wired and Wireless Network, following Tiscali’s focus on the Italian domestic market. From 2003 to 2015 he was a founding member and president of Consorzio Janna, the consortium that was the first to lay an underwater fiber optic cable between Sardinia and Sicily. During the last 4 years he has been involved with Tiscali in the challenge of developing innovative OTT solutions in the field of communication and has been involved in relations with the AGCOM Authority and other government agencies. In 2020, he also took on the role of Sales Manager.
