Jim Cowles has a strong background in environmental toxicology and product safety. Jim began their career as a Chemist at the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1997 and later worked as an Agency Environmental Toxicologist at the Washington State Department of Agriculture from 2002-2012. In 2012, they joined the EPA as the Associate Director of the Environmental Fate and Effects Division, Office of Pesticide Programs. Most recently, Cowles served as the Director of Product Safety at Tessenderlo Group starting in 2017.
Jim Cowles received their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Environmental Studies from Western Washington University between 1984 and 1989. Jim then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Environmental Toxicology at Clemson University from 1991 to 1997.
