Hong Yee Tan

Scientist at Tetris Therapeutics

Hong Yee Tan has extensive research experience, primarily at Simon Fraser University and Nanyang Technological University. At Simon Fraser University, Hong Yee worked as a Research Assistant from September 2012 to May 2021. In this role, they planned, synthesized, and developed new fluorescent probes for cell-based imaging and proteomics. They also developed small molecule inhibitors for Alzheimer's disease-related enzymes, purified small molecule compounds, and conducted structural determinations using various techniques such as NMR. Additionally, they expressed and purified proteins for evaluating kinetics on chemical probes. Hong Yee also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Simon Fraser University from September 2012 to December 2014, where they led class discussion sections, tutorials, and supervised laboratory sections.

Furthermore, Hong Yee worked as a Research Project Officer at Nanyang Technological University from April 2012 to July 2012. In this role, they contributed to a project focused on the regio and stereoselective synthesis of β-keto functionalized C-glycosides through iron catalyzed Ferrier rearrangement reactions. Their responsibilities included developing an efficient methodology for synthesizing a small molecule library, assisting in methodology development, scaling up reactions, compound purification, and handling air sensitive reactions.

Hong Yee Tan has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, as well as Organic Chemistry, from Simon Fraser University. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor and Master of Science (B.Sc. Hon, M.Sc.) degree in Chemistry from Nanyang Technological University Singapore. Additionally, Hong Yee Tan has obtained several certifications, including "HPLC-INFII-2101c - Agilent Infinity Series HPLC with OpenLab CDS Essential and Advanced Operation" from Agilent Technologies in May 2023, "Graduate Technologist" from the Malaysia Board of Technologists in March 2022, and "Registered Chemist" from the Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM) in May 2022.
