Russell Wilson (Rusty)

Russell (Rusty) Wilson serves as Fire Chief for the City of Mesquite since November 2020 and holds multiple positions including Commissioner at the Texas Commission on Fire Protection, Executive Board Secretary for the Texas Fire Chiefs Association, and Adjunct Instructor at the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service. Prior to these roles, Wilson was Fire Chief for the City of Katy from May 2016 to October 2020 and served as Assistant Fire Chief at the Irving Fire Department from May 2007 to April 2016, where a career commenced in 1988. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Fire and Emergency Management Administration from Oklahoma State University, a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Administration & Planning from the University of North Texas, an Associate degree in Fire Science from Trinity Valley Community College, and training at the National Fire Academy.
