Donald Deis

Endowed Chair at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi

Don Deis is the Joslin Endowed Chair in Accounting and TAMU System Regents Professor at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Previously he was Ernst & Young Endowed Professor and Doctoral Program Director at Louisiana State University and Joseph Silvoso Distinguished Director of the School of Accountancy at the University of Missouri. Don has a bachelor's and MBA from this university and a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University-College Station. He is an associate editor or editorial board member of four journals. His primary research interests include ESG, auditor independence, audit quality, forensic accounting, and outsourcing. He is a CPA (Texas) and Certified Fraud Examiner. He is active in the American Accounting Association, having served on its National Council in 2001-2002, previously was a board member of the Federation of Schools of Accountancy, and for several years he served in the American Institute of CPAs as a technical advisor to the CPA exam and as a member of the Government Performance Accountability Committee. Corpus Christi is his hometown where his family operated "The Dog House Pet Store" at three locations. He was an avid surfer and ran beach rentals on Padre Island during summers. He was a member of "Woodfork," an acoustic music group, that performed at numerous college concerts with national recording artists in the early 1970's.
